Resilient and Reliable Mobility Systems 

Logo der ÖVG - Österreichische Verkehrswissenschaftliche GesellschaftThe ÖVG invites submissions of abstracts for the 24th European Transport Congress as well as applications for the European Friedrich-List-Prize 2026. The congress will be held on May 7 2026 in Vienna as part of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the ÖVG – Austrian Society for Transport and Transportation Sciences.

The event will bring together leading voices from across Europe through inspiring keynotes, high-level panels, and scientific contributions from the mobility and transport research community.

Submission of abstracts

The 2026 theme, “Resilient and Reliable Mobility Systems: Insights from Science and Practice,” invites contributions that explore how transport infrastructure can adapt to a changing climate, meet increasing availability demands, and remain robust amid external shocks.

The ÖVG particularly welcomes submissions on, but not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Maintenance and Availability of Transport Infrastructures
  2. Climate Change and Resilience in Relation to Transport Infrastructures
Submission deadlines
  • Extended Abstract Deadline: October 31, 2025
  • Notification of Acceptance (incl. publication recommendations): December 15, 2025
  • Full Paper Deadline (for special issues): April 30, 2026

European Friedrich-List-Prize 2026

The ÖVG also invites, on behalf of the European Platform of Transport Sciences (EPTS) Foundation e.V., the submission of papers for the 21st European Friedrich-List-Award 2026, dedicated to young transport scientists. The Award will be conferred during the 24th European Transport Congress 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

The European Friedrich-List-Prize is awarded for outstanding scientific papers in each of the following categories:

  • Doctorate paper (PhD or comparable)
  • Diploma paper (Master Thesis or comparable)

The submitted papers should address topics in the transport field within a European context and from a European perspective, ideally making reference and contributing to the sustainable development of elements and modes within pan-European or crossborder transport.

Application Deadline

Candidates are invited to submit their papers in electronic format (*PDF or *doc) via e-mail to the EPTS-General Secretariat until January 14th, 2026.
